The Importance of the Table Selection for the Beginners

Article written by Lloyd B Hunt
Monday, September 17, 2007

It is not always an easy task for someone to start learning a new thing and this applies to the beginners in online poker as well. Learning how to play for real money and winning requires a lot of work and patience. However, as you are only beginning playing online poker there are some general things you should learn before studying more and playing as a professional online poker player. You will not simply sit at the table and start earning great sums of money, that’s for sure. You need patience as the success only appears once you focus on the details enough to understand how the game is played. A useful online poker tip refers at the position at the game table; more important, however, are the types of poker game you play and the stakes. Your main goal is to lose as few times as possible and win as many times as possible. Before starting to play online poker for real money, you will surely think about practicing but you will hardly find a table to simulate the situations you meet when you play for real money. The best training is to start playing for real money and only bet small sums of money. However, if you don’t start winning soon, then you will still have no money left. This is why it is recommended for you to begin with a no limit table. You might think that starting with a micro limit table is better and the idea with the no limit table might sound stupid, but it is correct. If you want to earn money by playing online poker at a micro limit table you will have to win 100% of the hands and this is impossible. On no limit table, on the other hand, you will be more concentrated and will manage to learn playing poker better. Of course, you will also lose more hands than you will win, but when you will have a winning hand you will surely earn more money than you would on a micro limit table. By winning a hand from time to time at a no limit table you will get to learn online poker while keeping the money you own constant.
