Passionate about fun and winning

Article written by Honest Casinos

Some say that Poker originated in the saloons of the Wild West and nowadays we all know it became the favorite pastimes for millions of people worldwide.

For the past few years poker has made many of its fans happier, as people can now play their favorite game online. More and more people tend to prefer playing poker online to going to a real casino. The former has several advantages among which I think the most important is the fact that you can save a lot of money if you decide to play online rather than to go to a real casino (not necessarily to Las Vegas) by spending the money on traveling on betting.

Also you save a lot of time if you choose to play online.
Online poker is much more comfortable to play, especially now, when there are so many online casinos you can choose from. Therefore you can play whenever you want, without having to wait for a free table, without going through all the trouble that going to a casino would involve. I know you are curious about how to play online poker and this is why I suggest you try an online casino that offers free poker games. This will be helpful before placing real bets.

Many sites offer a series of poker lessons where you don’t have to pay for the first ones, and if you wish to continue and learn more, you must sign up and play one or more sites.
Once you know the rules you’re in a good position to play poker. Poker is played from a standard deck of 52 cards. Some different type of games adds jokers as wild cards. The ranking of the cards in descending order is: A (ace), K (king), Q (queen), J (jack), 10 down to 2 and A (ace) again, as it can be either high or low. There are four suits: spades, diamonds, hearts and clubs and they are all equal in rank. The dealer deals five cards to each player. This is called a "hand". The highest ranking hand wins. The ranking of poker hands in descending order is as follows: royal flush- the highest, five of a kind (which can only be obtained by using a wild cards or jokers), then straight flush, four of a kind, full house, regular flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, and one pair. Five of a kind is only possible when using wild cards and it is the highest hand. In cases when more players have five of a kind, the highest hand wins. Straight flush is the best natural hand. It consists of five cards in sequence and of the same suit. A straight flush where the ace is used as a high card is called a royal flush. You have a Four of a kind when four of your cards are of the same rank. Whoever has the highest rank of four of a kind tops others who have four of kind. Full house is a hand consisting of three of a kind and a pair.

Flush is a hand consisting of cards that are all in the same suit in any order. Straight is a hand consisting of five cards in sequence, such as 5-6-7-8-9. An ace may either be high or low. Three of a kind is a hand containing three cards of different suits, but of the same rank and other two cards that are not a pair. Two pair is a hand that contains no more than two pairs. One pair is a hand that contains one pair only. How you use wild cards depends on the game you are playing and the rules. A wild card can be defined as a joker or standard card that, by player agreement and/or dealer’s choice, can be used to represent any card you want it to.

In almost all poker games you have to ante a certain sum of money to have the cards dealt. Betting starts when the cards are dealt to each player. Players will bet into the pot. The dealing is done in clockwise order. Whoever has the highest rank bets first. It is not necessary to bet; he can also check as well. If a player says "check", it means he offers the decision to bet to the player coming after him, who, at his turn can check as well. If all the players decide to check, then the round ends. All players open their cards and the one who has the highest hand wins. The betting starts only after a player places a bet. The options for the player in turn are to call, fold or raise. To fold means to pass or drop out of the round and not play. To call means willing to match the bet and the same amount must be placed on the pot. To raise means to match the bet and add an extra bet. If there are no more raises and all the cards have bean dealt, then the round ends. Everyone opens his closed cards end the highest hand wins the pot.

If you still don’t know how to play this game, don’t panic! It’s easy! The only thing you have to do is press the '?' (Help) button in the game to learn how to play it. Here you will find detailed instructions and explanations for it. An excellent starting point to find any kind of information on Poker is the internet, and more precisely any site that offers the great game of poker. You will find not only rules but also strategies, comprehensive dictionary of Poker jargon, and more. On some sites you can even find odds calculators, online poker analysts, huge forums, and many other resources. Other sites provide free strategy advice on low limit Hold 'em and 7 card stud, and reviews of online poker rooms.
As for the seriousness and fairness of these sites, you should know that online casinos have a fair playing strategy, high payout rates and you can pay by almost any method of online payment without having to worry about security or anything else. Playing online poker is fun and has proved profitable for many people who have won millions of dollars and euros for the past few years. The security, confidentiality and satisfaction of players are the top priority of the people who found online casinos. The most modern data encryption and protection methods have been implemented to ensure the security of clients.
The number of variations this game has shows that many people have been constantly interested in poker and wanted their favorite game not to be forgotten and to survive for as many years as possible without being considered boring. It’s easy to play and you are pretty likely to win. I think there are enough variations of poker to cater for all tastes. Have you found the perfect one for you yet?
