Hoyt Corkins was robbed but not at the tables, his home was broken into while he was on vacation and the thieves stole many of his most treasured items. They stole his safe and numerous poker related items. According to a representative, Corkins had his two WSOP Bracelets stolen and almost all of his other poker memorabilia including his World Poker Tour items including his Tiffany’s bracelet from the 2004 World Poker Finals title win. There are only 100 or so bracelets in the world like it and this one has his name engraved on it.
Corkins lives in the Spanish Trails of Las Vegas which is an exclusive area. The area is a gated community and has security patrolling. The robbers broke into the house by smashing a hole in the wall to gain entry. Although he often wears completely black attire at the tables, he is considered to be one of the good guys. He has been contacted and gave the following statement to his devastation on the robbery. “I am clearly devastated by this. My hope is that the poker community will help me try and recover the irreplaceable items that were taken,” said Corkins, “I truly appreciate the outpouring of love and support I have received.”
The thieves emptied the house and the garage including a white Harley Davidson motorcycle and a couple of vehicles. The first vehicle is a 2005 Jeep that has in depth customization and the second is a Yukon Denali featuring branding from Doyle’s Poker Room. Because most of the poker items are one of a kind, Corkins is hoping that the poker community will help identify and recover many of those items. Police are still investigating and hoping that the word will get out through the poker community and one of the items will be discovered leading to the thieves. The information is still coming forth in this poker tragedy and a complete list of items will be forthcoming. Anyone with information on the robbery or any of the items that have been mentioned so far is asked to call the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.
