Suss out the cheaters on Online Poker
Article written by Lou Stevens
Cheats at poker tables ruin the game for everyone. Having the decision about whether you can win a hand taken out of your hands is infuriating and is like being stolen from.
In order to avoid these cheats, you need to know what it is they are doing and learn to avoid them, or even better out play them!!
The best way to cheat would be to know what cards all the players at the table have. Obviously this is impossible when playing online, so how are they doing it?
When playing online poker, you need to be aware that it is easy for friends to join the same table and then instant message/call each other to give away their hands making them a strong team against individual players. They can raise one another and most of the time people will fold so they get to keep the blinds - this can be a very profitable business. In order to effectively trap players, the cheats need to be sitting apart around the table.
Now you know that this cheating happens and how they do it, you need to know how to spot them at your poker table.
There are thousands of poker room members around the world. With so many players at so many sites, it is not uncommon that friends will be playing at the same place at the same time.
Look out for players who frequently (more than usual) are playing hands together. Report them to the customer services and they can look into their game history and see if there is a pattern.
You should be most wary at high stakes or No Limit tables. This is where the cheats will make their biggest profit and you need to watch out for them.
